Exchange Update

Hi Exchange Families,

We are writing to provide you with information on the Exchange to Vancouver.





Flight Schedule

• Leaving Ottawa Airport on December 31st at 6am- Westjet flight 0353
• Returning on January 8th at midnight- Westjet flight 0612
• Please make sure you are at the airport by 4:30 am for departure

Packing List

• Attached is a full packing list  : Packing List 
• Our flights allows one check in bag and one carry on. 
• Please make sure that skates are in the check in bag.
• Your carry on bag must be a backpack that can be used as a ski day pack as well

Gear

• Skate skis (only), poles and ski boots
• Ice Skates 
• We are packing all the skis and poles together so please drop off your skate skis and poles at Sven’s by Dec 29th at the latest. Make sure names are on all skis and poles and have a ski strap to hold them together. Sven can also take skis at practice on Dec 28th.

Insurance

• Ensure your child has out of province insurance (Blue Cross) OR that your insurance covers them for out of province

Identification

• Your child will require 2 pieces of Government issued ID such as a health card or Passport for the flights.  Please provide Sven and Jeff with a photocopy of ID in case it is lost.
• A letter explaining that you give permission for your child to travel with Sven and Jeff is also a good idea. Attached is a sample consent Letter : Consent Letter 

Host Family Gift

Each participant is to bring gifts to their host family in BC. We recommend that it be something representative of Chelsea or our region. Target value should be $30. We would like to suggest a combo of the following gift ideas, but feel free to use your creativity:

• maple syrup or maple product produced locally
• candle from Boogie Doozie
• Condiments from Les Fougeres made with local/Quebec ingredients
• Original cards and crafts from the boutique at La Fab (next to St. Stephen's church). 
• Geof Burbidge cards (local Chelsea artist). Available for sale at the Freshmart.

Electronics

• A reminder that phones, tablets, etc are allowed on the trip for the purpose of taking photos and communicating with family. Other usages that will disrupt from the socialisation with the group will not be tolerated. Coaches will confiscate the devices if required.
